Summary
Our MOCA Educators lead weekly classes as part of MOCA Teen Art Force, the museum’s free studio art program for teens held in the Pavilion Studio. The Teen Art Force sessions for the 2025–26 school year are as follows, excluding legal holidays and MDCPS teacher planning days:
· Session 1: September 2, 2025 – December 19, 2025
· Session 2: January 5, 2026 – March 19, 2026
· Session 3: March 30, 2026 – May 29, 2026
This MOCA Educator position focuses on Photography & Digital Arts, with curriculum developed and implemented by the teaching artist. In Session 1, students will explore digital photography as a tool for self-expression and storytelling, developing technical skills in composition, lighting, and editing. In Session 2, the focus shifts to animation, with students creating short animated works that respond to or interpret musical compositions by New World Symphony fellows. This cross-disciplinary partnership culminates in a final performance at MOCA, where students’ visual works are presented alongside live musical performances. Students will document their work throughout the program, culminating in the development and creation of the Teen Art Force MOCA Zine during Session 3.
MOCA Educators are independent contractors and serve as community liaisons. They are invited to attend museum field trips and events. For this position, experience in photography, animation, and digital media is essential. Proficiency in programs such as Procreate, Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and/or After Effects is required. Candidates must demonstrate experience with project-based learning, collaboration across disciplines, and the ability to guide students from ideation through final production. The ability to meet deadlines and support students through both individual and collaborative projects is essential.
Major Areas of Responsibility
The Photography & Digital Arts TAF MOCA Educator will:
- Teach the weekly Photography & Digital Arts class as partof the after-school Teen Art Force program and/or other MOCA programs as needed.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum, to be shared with the MOCA Education Team at least two weeksprior to the start of each session.
- Administer evaluations for the Teen Art Force program.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that introduces students to photography, digital art, and animation. Curriculum must be shared with the MOCA Education Team at least two weeks prior to the start of each session.
- Collaborate with New World Symphony fellows to guide students in creating original visual works (e.g., analog/digital animations or digitalmedia) to accompany live musical performances.
- Assist students in the developmentand production of the Teen Art Force MOCA Zine, alongside the Museum Experiences class, adhering to editorial and publishing timelines.
- Support students in developing foundational skills in digital photography, including composition, lighting, editing, and visual storytelling.
- Teach animation techniques and software relevant to the program’s goals, helping students bring their ideas to life in time for the performance deadline.
- Incorporate MOCA’s exhibitions, artists, and community partnerships into class content when applicable.
- Meet with new students to review program expectations and guidelines.
- Coordinate with the Youth Education Manager regarding supply and equipment needs and maintain classroom inventory.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Fine Arts, Art Education, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet deadlines promptly.
- At least two years of teaching experience.
- Experience with art installation/uninstallation.
- Proficiency in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop,etc.) and Procreate.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Valid driver’s license and a laptop computer to complete tasks.
- Strong communication, organizational, and writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow directives from the Youth Education Manager.
- Professional appearance and attitude.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish, English/Creole) applicants are highly desired but not required.
- Flexibility and improvisational skills.
- Fingerprint clearance required.
Terms of employment: MOCA Educators are hired on ayearly contractor basis and paid $165 per class taught and must commit to the entire run of the 2024-2025 Teen Art Force run (with exceptions for legal holidays or emergencies).

This MOCA Educator position focuses on Museum Experiences, introducing students to the creative, conceptual and logistical processes behind organizing and interpreting an art exhibition. Students will engage in hands-on curatorial activities, including ideation, selection, organization, and presentation of artworks. The course also incorporates creative writing, guiding students through the development of curatorial texts such as exhibition statements, artwork labels, and promotional materials. Their work will culminate in thecuration of a collaborative Teen Art Force Exhibition at the museum forall participating TAF students. Throughout the sessions, students will also assist in the layout and production of a published Teen Art Force MOCA Zine documenting their exhibitionand curatorial process.

The Director of Finance is a dynamic and experienced member of MOCA’s team that plays a crucial role in overseeing all operational aspects of the museum’s finances. The Director is an expert in in database management, financial controls and best practices. The ideal candidate ensures compliance while fostering a culture of support and collaboration across departments. The Director participates in the short-and-long term financial planning of the organization and drives financial sustainability to support our mission.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities
Financial Planning: Strategy & Budget
• Develop, in collaboration with the Deputy Director, financial strategy to support the organization's goals and long-term sustainability.
• Lead the preparation of the annual budget.
• Oversee implementation of financial plans and annual budgets for each department.
• Monitor and analyze financial performance across departments and provide regular reports.
Financial Reporting
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Provide regular updates for various internal and external stakeholders on all finance functions and activities.
Financial Operations: Accounting and Finance
• Oversee all accounting and finance functions of the organization (including the 501(c)3 and the City of North Miami requirements).
• Ensure all fiscal practices meet the highest standard of integrity and compliance.
• Oversee and implement financial policies and procedures that maintain an effective internal control environment and oversee adherence to policies.
• Continually work toward promotion of efficiency and effectiveness of all finance functions, via process and workflow improvements.
• Provide accounting and financial related assistance to other departments, including participation in training staff on fiscal procedures and budget management as needed.
• Perform year-end accounting system close, including the production of 1099 forms.
• Lead annual audit preparation and Form 990 submission.
• Process payroll.
• Develop and maintain effective tools for managing grants, supporting grant budget preparation, tracking, and reporting.
Kalifikasyon:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant, progressive work experience, in the nonprofit sector.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Proficiency in financial software.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Strategic thinker with a track record of driving financial sustainability and growth.
• Ability to work well in a small, fast-paced, entrepreneurial team environment.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business (or equivalent experience)
• High-level experience using accounting software

This is a full-time, salaried position, with hours typically Monday-Friday 9:30am-5:30pm. The position will require some early morning, late evening, and weekend hours as necessary due to museum events or other relevant meetings. While generally an in-person position, the museum does provide provisions for occasional hybrid work. A level 2 background check will be required upon the offer of employment.
