Celebrating its 30th anniversary year, the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA) is a vibrant and inclusive space for contemporary art. Rooted in and inspired by our diverse communities, we serve as a vital catalyst for artistic innovation and community engagement. Through bold exhibitions, education and public programming, and our permanent collection, we cultivate a lifelong love of the arts.
Founded by artists in 1981 in single gallery space, MOCA became one of the first collecting contemporary art institutions in Miami-Dade fourteen years later, following a $2.5 million grant from the federal agency for Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to create a center for contemporary art on municipal land in the heart of North Miami’s business district. In 1996, MOCA unveiled the 23,000-square-foot building, designed by Charles Gwathmey of GSNY in conjunction with Miami firm Gelabert-Navia. Today, the museum is a beacon for discovering new artists and learning about our living cultural heritage, through internationally renowned artists, while continuing its long legacy of supporting and nurturing South Florida artists through its groundbreaking exhibitions and innovative educational programs.
MOCA is a vital cultural anchor in the heart of North Miami, serving this diverse community as a center for cross-cultural understanding and inclusion. This vision defines MOCA. We will be known as the museum where the future of contemporary art is discovered.
MOCA kenbe yon politik solid nan opòtinite travay egal pou tout anplwaye yo ak aplikan yo pou travay. Anbochaj mize a, tren, ankouraje, konpanse ak ranvwaye anplwaye yo san yo pa konsènan ras, koulè, kwayans, relijyon, idantite sèks, oryantasyon seksyèl, orijin nasyonal, laj, maryaj oswa estati veteran, andikap, sitwayènte, oswa kwayans politik ki pa entèdi pèfòmans nan fonksyon travay esansyèl. Nou pran angajman pou bati yon anplwaye kiltirèlman divès ak fòtman ankouraje tout pwofesyonèl ki kalifye pou aplike.
