Conversations at MOCA: The Garden

Rezime

Join us for Conversations at MOCA featuring exhibiting artist Hiba Schahbaz and curator Jasmine Wahi, moderated by Alpesh Kantilal Patel, PhD. Dive into Hiba Schahbaz: The Garden, her first major retrospective showcasing 15 years of lush paintings inspired by Sufi mysticism, global myths, the feminist gaze, and fantastical realms of sea, land, and sky. Framed as a jannat or Paradise Garden with Persian and Mughal char-bagh influences, the exhibition merges Indo-Persian miniature traditions with large-scale works evoking South Florida's lush landscapes and themes of transformation, selfhood, and care.

The evening will start with a reception at 6 PM. The conversation will start at 7 PM. After Conversations at MOCA, guests are invited to enjoy JAZZ at MOCA featuring Gold Dust Lounge on MOCA's Plaza.

Conversations at MOCA offer a platform for meaningful connection to the community and the exhibitions. Through panel discussions, performances, film screenings and interactive art installations, the museum’s public programs explore exhibitions on a deeper level, while offering the public a better understanding of the social challenges of the moment through the lens of the arts.
