This November, we open Geoffrey Holder: Black Magic, the first museum survey ever devoted to Holder's visual art and one of the most ambitious exhibitions in MOCA's history. Holder's life long commitment to painting — from the biblical allegories and remembered portraits that filled his canvases to landscapes and luminous still lifes — is at the heart of this extraordinary exhibition.
It is a rare opportunity to experience more than 60 works by an artist the world knew in so many ways, but who considered painting his most vital form of expression.
